Fans of Middle Age, try the Hotel Saint-Merri in Paris

Hotels

This 3-star hotel is located in the former presbytery of the Saint-Merri Church, in the famous neighborhood of le Marais. The church dates back to the 16th century and so does the hotel it seems! It is a truly magical place for fans of the Middle-Age and of historical locations. Each room is decorated with stunning pieces of furniture carved in the most gracious of ways, the walls are made of beautiful stone, bed covers are a shade of green reminiscent of an era long forgotten. Pass your way if you are not happy with walking up to your room (no Elevator, rooms are between the 1st and 4th floor) or need to watch TV on a daily basis (no TV – free WiFi though!). The bathrooms are also quite stark with just the essentials and no extra embellishments (shower, basin, toilets).

The other great points besides the atmosphere and history are the location (amazingly central) and subsequently, the price (very affordable for such ideal location). One last point: the Suite. On the top floor (4th) stands this amazing apartment (large surface) with amazing (yes, we are repeating ourselves!) furniture, and bedding for 5 (double bed, sofa-bed and a single bed). They have also added the “luxury” of a bathtub and a television. All in all, one of the best rooms in Paris, except when it rains (right under the rooftops with very thin glass/roof, will get very loud)

We love: the Suite on the 4th floor
Top Tip: Watch TV on your computer!
Location: Hotel Saint Merri, www.hotel-paris-saintmerry-marais.com, 78 Rue de la Verrerie, 75004 Paris (Metro: Châtelet)
Price: Rooms start at 140€ and the suite at 350€
